How to properly remove acrylic nails at home: step-by-step instructions
Let's be honest: each of us, even if we know everything about proper care, makes mistakes in our beauty routine from time to time. We don't wash off our make-up before going to bed, squeeze out pimples or... bite acrylic nails. The latter, by the way, is not just a bad habit. It can lead to weakening of natural nails, damage to the nail plate and even cause infection. In the end - with our own hands we harm ourselves, as they say.

Frankly speaking, the safest solution is to remove acrylic nails in the salon. But there are situations when it is simply impossible to get there. There is no need to panic! In this article we will tell you how to carefully and safely remove acrylic nails at home - without pain, damage and unnecessary effort.

How to remove acrylic nails at home

The easiest way to remove acrylic nails at home is to use nail polish remover with acetone. Soak cotton discs in the medium, tightly apply them to the nails and wrap the fingertips with foil. Wait about 30 minutes - during this time the acrylic will soften and begin to peel off from the nail plate. The residue can be gently removed with an orange stick or cuticle pusher.

We advise you to warm up acetone a little before the procedure - to do this, place the can with the liquid in hot water for a few minutes. This way the product will work faster and more effectively. However, never heat acetone in the microwave! It is a highly flammable substance and may cause a fire.

Step-by-step instructions:

1. Carefully trim the acrylic nails, cutting them as close to the natural nails as possible.

2. Buff the surface of the nails to a matte finish - this will remove the glossy layer and allow the acetone liquid to soften the acrylic faster.

3. Dip the nails in a bath with 100% acetone for 5 minutes or moisten cotton discs with the liquid and apply to the nails, as mentioned above.

4. Gently remove the acrylic from your nails with an orange stick or cuticle pusher.

5. If necessary, repeat the last steps to completely remove the acrylic coating from your nails.

6. Polish your nails with a file-buff to gently remove any remaining coating.

7. We strongly recommend rubbing cuticle oil into your nails after acrylic removal, as acetone is very drying to the nail plate and the skin around it.

How long can acrylic nails be worn?

It is recommended to wear acrylic nails for 3-4 weeks. However, much depends on the growth rate of the natural nails. As the nail plate grows back, acrylic nails start to look less natural, even if the coating is still strong and holds securely.

How to restore the nail plate after acrylics?

.

As beautiful as acrylic nails may look, extensions and subsequent removal are definitely not good for natural nails. After acrylic removal, you will definitely notice that your nails have become dry and brittle - this is a signal that they need special care and recovery before the next extension.

To strengthen your nails, it is recommended to apply special strengthening products for a week. Afterwards, be sure to use cuticle oil or a nourishing serum to keep the skin around your nails moisturised and soft.

Also, don't forget to take breaks from using acrylics, gel polish, overlays and even regular polish. This rest will give your nails the time they need to recover and stay healthy.
